Meet Karl
A Lifelong Pursuit of Healing and Advocacy
Karl’s roots trace back to Virginia, where he was one of eleven siblings. Growing up in a large family instilled in him the values that guide him today.
Karl has been a resident of Cobb for nearly 40 years and has been married for 35 years to his wife Chris. He has three children, Mia, Tess, and Ben, a son-in-law, Stephen and granddaughter, Maeve.
He received his BS in Biology from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and went on to graduate from Harvard Medical School where he received his Doctor of Medicine. He also received a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina’s School of Public Health.
His early clinical practice in Georgia centered on treating individuals struggling with addiction to alcohol and drugs. Karl’s empathy and commitment shone through as he worked tirelessly to restore hope and health in his patients. Over the years, he has served on various committees in the Atlanta metropolitan area to address improving treatment of substance abuse and mental health disorders, setting guidelines for effective treatment standards.
For the past 25 years, Karl has worked in the field of global pharmaceutical safety. As an independent medical safety consultant, he evaluates safety data for new medicines and medical devices, identifying potential risks associated with these products. He has ushered many of these breakthrough products through the FDA approval process to market, working primarily on therapies for the treatment of various cancers.
Karl’s dedication to evidence-based decision-making ensures that patient safety remains paramount. As your representative, Karl will bring that same independent, fact-based decision making to legislation, putting his personal beliefs, or party interests aside to proactively pass legislation that benefits all Georgians.
